The Full Story
Sacred Mountain
For decades, Mt. Banahaw has been the seat of traditional healing in the country, known as the power mountain and pilgrimage site to many who look for spiritual power (said to be given by the high frequency energies of the mountain, its caves or pwestos and its healing waters). It has been a mountain aligned with the esoteric, occult, traditional healing modalities of local healers called “albularios” and shamans, plus psychic and UFO followers. It is also a complete rainforest eco-system that is now a protected national rainforest area of the Philippine government. Endemic to the area are indigenous healing herbs.
Unique to the mountain are the proliferation of various sects and groups still practicing traditional Filipino spirituality and local medicine which fuses the Christian faith and the indigenous animistic and nature spirit belief system in connection to Nature.
